Hardwood repairs we do
Most damage is local. A few bad boards or one problem area rarely means the whole floor needs to go, and a targeted repair costs far less than replacing everything.
We handle the common problems:
Board and plank replacement. Cracked, split, gouged, or stained boards cut out and replaced, then colour-matched to the rest of the floor.
Squeak fixes. Squeaks and creaks traced to their source and re-secured, whether the board has worked loose or the subfloor has shifted.
Water and pet damage. Boards swollen, stained, or lifted by a leak or pet accidents removed and replaced, once the source is dry.
Gaps and cupping. Boards that have shrunk apart or cupped from moisture assessed and repaired, along with the humidity issue behind them where we can spot it.
Damaged transitions. Worn or loose transitions and thresholds re-secured where hardwood meets tile, carpet, or vinyl plank flooring.
We match new boards to the species, grade, and colour of your existing floor as closely as the wood allows, and we blend the finish so the patch settles into the surrounding surface rather than standing out.
Repair vs refinish vs replace
Matching the fix to the floor saves you money. We will give you a straight answer at the assessment.
Repair. The right call when the damage is limited to a few boards or one area and the rest of the floor is sound. We swap the affected boards and blend them in.
Refinish. The right call when the boards are fine but the surface is scratched, dull, grey, or worn. Sanding and recoating resets the whole floor. See our hardwood floor refinishing page.
Replace. The right call when damage is widespread, the boards are too thin to sand again, or the floor has reached the end of its life. See our hardwood floor installation page.
Often the best result is a combination – we replace the damaged boards first, then refinish the whole floor so the repair vanishes under a fresh, even coat.
Engineered hardwood repairs too
Engineered hardwood can be repaired as well. It has a real-wood veneer over a stable plywood core, and damaged planks can be lifted and replaced much like solid boards.
Click-together engineered floors sometimes let us swap a plank without disturbing much of the surrounding floor. Glued or nailed-down floors take more care to lift cleanly. Because engineered boards have a thin veneer, we usually repair by replacing planks rather than sanding, which protects the wear layer. If you are weighing a new floor instead, see our engineered hardwood installation page.
Areas we serve
We repair hardwood floors across Mississauga, including Port Credit, Streetsville, Meadowvale, Erin Mills, Cooksville, Lorne Park, Clarkson, Churchill Meadows, Malton, and the Hurontario and Square One area. Not sure if you are in range? Ask us.
Frequently asked questions
Can you replace just a few damaged boards?
Yes. Individual boards can be cut out and replaced without redoing the whole floor. We match the new boards to the species and colour of your existing hardwood and blend the finish so the repair is hard to spot.
Will the repair match the rest of my floor?
We match as closely as the wood allows. New boards start out lighter than aged wood, so where an exact match matters we may recommend refinishing the whole floor after the repair, which brings everything to one even colour and sheen.
Can water-damaged hardwood be fixed?
Often, yes, once the source of the water is fixed and the area is fully dry. Swollen, stained, or lifted boards are replaced. Boards left wet for a long time may have affected the subfloor, which we check before we start.
Can you fix a squeaky hardwood floor?
Yes. Squeaks usually come from a loose board or movement between the floor and the subfloor. We trace the noise to its source and re-secure it so the spot stops creaking. Ready to fix that floor? Book a free in-home assessment and written quote today.
